Gila Wilderness
I am deeply concerned about the future of human happiness; I feel globalization has created unwanted consequences for the human psyche. The current pace of human activity has damaged our relationship with nature’s cadence. In my artwork, I seek to connect with the harmonizing timing of the natural world through direct observation and immersive field experiences. I transmute my observations and deep listening into work that explores ecology, individual divinity, migration, place and time.
I strive to illuminate the beauty and balance of nature through my focus on color, line and pattern choice. I paint primarily with enamel on glass or acrylic on canvas with some variance using mixed media and installation. My 2-D work samples reveal that I am fixated on perfecting organic line and mixing unique purposeful colors. I am driven to study one form or experience at a time, such as a landscape, bird or botanical. In broader context, my work drives at the essential relationship between human and nature, as healer and spiritual guide.
